This initiative was created by the Lagos State Employment Training Program in conjunction with the United States African Development Program (USADP) to equip 3000 citizens of Lagos State with a variety of industrial skills in Nigeria.
This yearly Lagos State entrepreneurship program is a 4–12-week vocational training course that would give Lagos State youths the skills they need in fields including construction, the arts, and technology.
Lagos Launches Programs for Youth Empowerment to Combat Unemployment
The Lagos State government has started a youth empowerment program that is aimed at college students in their final year and those in their penultimate classes.
The initiative is aimed at 8,000 business owners. Currently, 8,000 penultimate and final year students from all the state’s higher education institutions are participating in a program sponsored by the state government called Jobs Initiative Lagos (JIL) that teaches entrepreneurial and employment skills.
Mr. Governor has created this excellent JIL program to up-skill our students in the penultimate and final year classes and equip them with all necessary skills that will make them not only employable and highly competitive in the global market, but also make their services remain relevant and essential for national economic growth in the 21st-Century global digital economy.
“We have also developed an all-encompassing entrepreneurship program that will teach participants how to start and manage a profitable new business of their own with a thorough understanding of business development strategies and risk factors that will help them stabilize in globally competitive markets,” Wahab said.
What is the Duration for the empowerment Programme in Lagos State?
The Lagos State Youths Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training Program would run from 4 to 12 weeks in 2024.
Eligibility for a successful Lagos State Youth Empowerment Programme

- Applicants must be Lagos residents with a minimum educational qualification of JSSCE.
- Applicants must be in possession of a Lagos State Resident Registration Agency ID (LASRRA ID).
- Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
